What about Lightweight Fishing Kayaks

My father loves to fish ponds in the backwoods. Where he is in Michigan it seems there are ponds all over the place, a new little pond every 30 or 40 feet. He fishes multiple ponds a day from spring to fall.

The thing about fishing kayak, they are usually heavier due to the extra features required but we have some good lightweight choices below.

Old Town 10-Feet Vapor 10 Angler

This is a very simple model, one of the lightest hardshells you will find currently on the market. It weighs only 47 pounds. This is the fishing kayak my dad uses and he has bought home some great catches and eats with it, bluegill and perch.

He loves it because its light enough to carry to a new pond when the one he’s fishing isn’t hitting.

Sun Dolphin Excursion sit-in Fishing Kayak, 10-Feet, Olive

Definitely an entry-level model but if your main concern is how much it weighs… This model weighs in at only 40 pounds. It has a large open cockpit for easy entry and exit, two flush mounted rod holders and one swivel holder located front and center.

By the way, this is a fairly plain looking kayak model but it’s tough, durable and has received a number of great reviews from current owners. And it’s priced at under $400. You can always customize it to give it more utility.
