Eddyline Skylark Kayak review

Eddyline Skylark Kayak 12 foot

Curious to learn if the Eddyline Skylark Kayak is right for you or the person may might want to buy this for? In all honesty, this is a very nice kayak. Handles very well, the tracking is excellent and it’s highly rated in the stability.

This is a quality built kayak, perfect for the person who plans on kayaking small lakes and rivers. However, there are definitely one or two things you need to consider before buying.

Before discussing what you definitely need to consider, we would like to mention this is a hybrid kayak. The size and fit makes the Skylark appear as a traditional recreational kayak but the functionality and performance makes it also very similar to sea kayaks. Further down the page we will discuss these features.

The following short review you will learn who is best suited for this kayak and further down the page will be a list of the different features and the specifications.

Outgrowing the Eddyline Skylark Kayaks Cockpit

Are you a big man? A female? A beginner? A youth that will be growing? These are very important factors to consider before buying this model.

One major things you need to consider is this is a sit-inside kayak and the cockpit isn’t very big. The exact dimensions of the cockpit are 35 inches by 18.5 inches. The video below will give you a better view of this size if you can’t exactly picture it in your mind.

If your a big man: This definitely is not the right kayak if you are a person over 6 foot the cockpit is going to be too small. But who it is perfect for are people who under 6-foot tall. This probably includes more woman and younger people.

If your a woman: If you’re under 6 foot and looking for a recreational kayak then this is one you want to consider.

If your a beginner: This is a great kayak for beginners since its light weight and handles easily in the water.

But what you need to consider. If you are a growing person you will most likely out grow the size of the cockpit. If you do buy the Skylark and out grow it this isn’t the end of the world since it should hold some resale value. There is a fairly big market for used kayaks.

The review in this video isn’t  very comprehensive but what the video does allow you to learn or see is the size of the cockpit:

Other dimensions that you might find important are:

  • Length: 12 foot on the nose.
  • Beam: 26 inches
  • Weight: 41 inches
  • Carrying Capacity: 295 pounds
