Buyers Opinions on Perception Sport Pescador 12 Angler Kayak

by frank on June 13, 2014

We wrote a review a while back which described the features and dimensions (length, width, weight, storage) of the Perception Sport Pescador 12 Angler Kayak but in this previous review we left out a few things that we would like to now cover here.

What do the people who have already bought and used this model think about it? Are there any major negatives opinions people have expressed?

We are familiar with the Perception 12 Angler Kayak in person and have always had a high opinion of it but we also wanted to look on a few of the major sites that rate kayaks to see if anyone had a compliant.

Don’t Take Our Word For It

We definitely do have a high opinions of the fishing kayak but as you can see from the image below we are not alone, many people have been very satisfied with their purchase.

You can look around at other models but for under $700 The Pescador 12 is hard to beat. Below you will find the complaints we found.

Perception Pescador 12 Angler Kayak Review

Looks Like They Like It

A whopping 30 out of 31 buyers gave this model a 5 or 4-star rating. No product is perfect but this is a very good rating.

Complaints We Heard

No joking but we did need to dig deep:

  • There are a few people we heard from who have complained that this model only comes in one color and this color is Beige.

This does seem like a trivial compliant but we actually understand since we prefer dark green for fishing, this is only a personal opinion though.

  • Then there were some people who “complained” about the weight.

This compliant is a bit confusing, we have to wonder if these people are just beginning in the sport of kayak fishing. First of all this is a bigger kayak at 12 feet and secondly fishing kayaks are always going to be heavier than recreational or touring yaks.

The Perception Sport Pescador 12 Angler Kayak weighs around 64 pounds this is not outrageous.

A complaint about the quality of the build

Not sure if this was a single product defect or the fault of the owner. This person complains, that after using it about 2 dozen times, a hole developed in its rear fin. But then also goes on to say they dragged it many times across the grass and dirt.

Not really sure about this complaint… All we can think, if the hole wasn’t there when you first used it and you have been dragging it across the grass and even dirt, things can happen…

Our recommendation to this person, they might have gotten great use out of a cart instead of dragging it.  If you don’t own or can’t afford a cart, please ask a friend to help you carry it to the water.
