Build Your Own Fishing Kayak Videos

Wondering how to build your own fishing kayak? It’s possible to fish from a recreational or touring kayak but these types of kayaks are definitely lacking in the features and accessories needed that make this sport so enjoyable. Not to say you will not have a fun using a recreational kayak for fishing BUT if you plan on kayak fishing more than once or twice a year then you should consider buying one that’s dedicated to the sport of fishing.

OR

If you currently own a recreational or touring kayak you can build and/or customize these into your own fishing kayak.  On this page you will find what we consider the best and most useful videos found on how to build your kayak.

There’s  channel on YouTube name Poor Man’s Fishing Kayak. The guy who created this channel does a really great job at explaining and showing how he turned his Emotion Spitfire 8 Sit-On-Top Kayak into awesome fishing kayak.

We have some of his best videos on this page already but he has a lot of videos, here is the link to his channel .

The following three videos show how the Minn Kota Endura 30 trolling motor works with the Hobie Mirage Outback.

Video #1 – See how it operates in the water

This is a 30 lb. thrust trolling motor that can go up to 4 mph in the water.

How to repair the scupper on the Hobie Outback Kayak

Is water getting in but your scupper hole(s) are not working properly to drain the water out? Then you must have either damaged or defective scuppers. The video below demonstrates step-by-step how one man goes about the repair process. Good learning.

Note: The kayak in the video is the Hobie Outback. But the design of the scuppers on all Hobie’s is pretty much identical. So the instructions in the video should be helpful no matter what model you currently own.

If you need instructions on repair of scuppers for a different brand you can visit here. You will find more videos that might suit the specific brand of kayak you own. Here.
